Apples & Yoghurt for Crunch & Sip

As we enter the warmer months, we invite the children to make baked apples for their crunch and sip. Children practiced their cutting skills as they sliced the apples into smaller pieces using a butter knife. They placed the sliced apples into a bowl and then we added cinnamon and butter to add flavour to the apples. The educator then cooked the cinnamon apples over the stove and then add them to a small bowl of yogurt for the children to enjoy during crunch & sip.

Children participating in cooking experiences help them learn basic mathematical concepts and build language skills. It also lays the foundation for healthy eating habits and encourages children to try different foods as they helped prepared the meal/snack.

The children also have exposure to their thinking skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry and experimentation.
